Neco takes you on his personal journey — from the sounds of his Mozambican childhood to the stages of Europe — his warm, silky voice layering with guitar into music that keeps traditions alive, up close and deeply felt.

Neco grew up in Mozambique, surrounded by the rhythms of timbila music from the Chopi tribe — music that was simply part of everyday life. From early on he was fascinated by sounds: from the animals, the organ in the church, the pop on the radio and the traditional sounds from the street. His path took him from Mozambique to Portugal to Rotterdam’s Codarts Conservatory, absorbing classical guitar, opera and jazz along the way — not to leave his roots behind, but to find new ways to carry them. In recent years, Neco has built a close creative friendship with Dutch band HAEVN. Together they perform on stages with across Europe, below and here you can find the songs they collaborated on.
