Buitenplaats De Hoorneboeg is situated just south of Hilversum. We kindly ask you to travel by foot, by (OV) bike or by public transport. Below are a few useful tips.
Walking – We look forward to welcoming you at the main entrance, at the end of the entrance road. The red gates surrounding De Hoorneboeg are closed.
Train – Hilversum and Hollandsche Rading stations are the closest. From there, you can complete the final part of your journey to De Hoorneboeg by OV-fiets or bus. There is also a large (and free) car park at Hollandsche Rading station – convenient if you want to pick up others and/or carpool for the final part of the journey. It’s then just a 5-minute drive to De Hoorneboeg.
OV-bike – The OV-bike is really useful. From Hilversum station, it’s a 20-minute cycle to De Hoorneboeg, and from Hollandsche Rading station it’s even closer.
Bus – Bus routes and timetables change from time to time. It’s best to check them via 9292. These are the nearest stops:
> ‘Hoorneboeg’ bus stop on Utrechtseweg, at the start of the driveway (journey time from Hilversum station approx. 10 minutes). From here, it’s about a 10-minute walk along a lovely, quiet, unpaved road to De Hoorneboeg.
> ‘Zonnestraal’ bus stop at Landgoed Zonnestraal near Nieuw Loosdrecht (journey time from Hilversum station approx. 15 minutes). From here, it’s a 15-minute walk through the woods and across the heath (heide) to De Hoorneboeg. You can find directions via this link.
If you’re traveling to Rooted Festival by car or motorbike, it’s important that you buy a parking ticket in advance before the event. The amount of parking spaces is limited on our parking lot in the woods, so that we can ensure everything runs smoothly on the day itself. You can purchase a parking ticket by clicking the ‘Tickets’ button on the homepage and then select a parking ticket.
In that case, you can find parking spaces within a 20–30-minute walk at:
– Hilversum Airport, Noordweg 49, 1213 PW (free of charge)
– Landgoed Zonnestraal, Loosdrechtse Bos 19, 1213 RH (mostly free of charge)
– Bomenbuurt Hilversum (Eikenlaan, Berkenlaan, Larixlaan) (paid)
Doors open from 11:00 onwards and the plenary opening will start at 11:30 am.
At the entrance, you’ll find our team welcoming you at the glass reception building. There, you’ll have your ticket scanned and receive a map showing the day’s program. The route to the various venues is signposted on wooden signs, which you’ll see as you walk through the woods. First, you’ll walk down the long path (to all venues), then you’ll find the first signs at the first junction.
Absolutely, we advise everyone to bring their own. There are several water points available throughout the day (at the different workshop venues) where you can top up your water bottle or bidon to stay hydrated.
The activities at Rooted Festival take place across the entire 13-hectare estate, amidst nature. This means there’s plenty of space for you to find some peace and quiet to relax – when you need it.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the estate. An exception applies to certified service dogs (hulphonden). We kindly ask you to let us know in advance so that we can inform our team.
Yes, we want everyone to feel welcome at Rooted Festival. Do you need physical support (for example, with accessibility or getting around), mental health support (such as a quiet space or extra guidance), or do you have neurodivergent support needs? Please let us know in advance via ontmoeten@dehoorneboeg.nl, so that we can work out together what’s possible.
Yes, absolutely! We want Rooted Festival to be accessible to deaf and hearing-impaired people. If you are planning to attend the festival and need a sign language interpreter to interpret the presentations on the main stage live into Dutch Sign Language (NGT), please contact us at ontmoeten@dehoorneboeg.nl.
As we are committed to protecting nature and the animals that live on the estate, smoking is not permitted on the estate or surrounding nature (heide). Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
